Financiado por el programa Jiménez de la Espada de la Fundación Séneca.    Resumen Hugo Verli Résumé and talk abstract: I am a Pharmacist with a Master degree in Organic Chemistry (both in the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology (at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS, Brazil). Since 2006 I have a permanent position in UFRGS, initially at the chair or Medicinal Chemistry and now on Bioinformatics. My research interests and activities are centered on molecules flexibility (proteins, membranes, nucleic acids and other natural or synthetic compounds) and function, studied mainly through computational techniques. Particularly, we dedicated efforts to build and validate parameters and strategies to describe glycoconjugates, such as glycoproteins with high fidelity. Based on this experience, we have been participating in a joint effort with UCAM to search and develop new antithrombotic agents, mainly through activation of human antithrombin. The results of this interaction, as well as the scientific background that support it, will be discussed in the presentation. For instance, we will also discuss the relevance of carbohydrates to proteins structure, dynamics and function, as well as how to obtain this information from computational an non-computational approaches.   La actividad está enmarcda en el Ciclo de Conferencias y Seminarios Científicos del Plan Propio de Investigación de la UCAM
