La Dra. Irma Fabiola Domínguez, investigadora del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social, Centro de Investigación Biomédica de Oriente de Puebla (México), impartirá una conferencia sobre plantas medicinales como fuentes naturales de compuestos con actividades farmacológicas .
El seminario tendrá lugar el lunes 8 de abril de 2019, en el Salón de Actos del Campus de Los Jerónimos, de 11h. a 13h. Está dirigido a los estudiantes de Farmacia y otros grados relacionados con Ciencias de la Salud y abierto a todos los participantes que deseen asistir, investigadores, estudiantes de Doctorado, personal de la UCAM.

Fabiola Domínguez is a Level 2 National Researcher in the National System of Researchers (SNI) and Titular Researcher B in the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS). She has a Masters and a Doctorate in Biotechnology. She received a medal of university honor in 2010 for her doctorate from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana.
She received scholarships for her masters and doctorate from the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACyT), a scholarship for her masters from IMSS, three scholarships for international stays from IMSS to the University of Barcelona, Spain, Instituto de Biotecnología vegetal, Las Villas, Cuba, and Rutgers University in the United States. She is the founder and person in charge of the Biotechnology Laboratory in Natural Products, of the Center for Biomedical Research (CIBIOR) of IMSS.
She is an accredited evaluator of CONACyT in calls competitions for scientific financing in Sector Funds, international stays and mixed funds. She is also an evaluator for IMSS of health research projects that compete for financing and an annual reviewer of projects to be presented in the National Congress of Medical Research. She is an evaluator and reviewer of scientific manuscripts for Phytochemistry Review, Natural Products Communications, Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, HortScience, Pakistan Journal of Scientific & Industrial Research and Current Bioactive Compounds and Pharmaceutical Biology.
She has presented over twenty research Works in national and international congresses, has attended 18 scientific courses in Mexico and abroad. She belongs to the Mexican Society of Biotechnology and Bioengineering as member, to the Mexican Pharmaceutical Association, to the International Society for Ethnopharmacology and the American Society of Pharmacognosy. She has received ten grants from IMSS, from CONACyT in sector and mixed funds, as well as from private enterprises. She has published works in chapters of international books, and more than thirty scientific articles in magazines listed in Journal Citations Reports. She formed and directs the Biotechnology Laboratory in Natural Products of the Biomedical Research Center of IMSS.
